The Department of Transportation has been working on State Hwy. 18 for some time.  Up until now it hasn’t caused too much interruption in our business.  However, we have been informed that we will be completely blocked in this Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th.  We have no choice but to close the Farm House Shop and Bed & Breakfast for those two days.  Please help spread the word.  If you know of anyone that may be planning a trip to the winery this weekend, let them know we are closed.

November Special Weekend Event
November 5 – 6, 2011
10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. both Saturday and Sunday

The Iowa Wine Trail involves nine wineries that will each serve unique and creative cuisine from around the world foods paired with their excellent Iowa Wines of the Upper Mississippi River Valley Viticulture Area.

Brick Arch Wineryin West Branch will be featuring samples of Swiss beef, Gruyere potatoes, and a chocolate dessert

Daly Creek Wineryin Anamosa will be featuring Caribbean cuisine highlighted by Jamaican pulled pork;

Eagles Landing Wineryin Marquette will be featuring German cuisine

Engelbrecht Family Winerynear Fredericksburg will feature Danish cuisine.

Park Farm Winerynear Bankston will be using their new wood fire pizza oven for “Pizza of America” samples

Sutliff Cider Companynear Lisbon will feature Greek cuisine with samples of stuffed loin;

Tabor Home Vineyards and Winerynear Baldwin will have French cuisine;

Wide River Winery near Clinton will be presenting French cuisine

Winneshiek Wildberry Winerynear Decorah plans to feature Italian foods

Purchase three (3) tickets before October 22nd and receive a fourth ticket free (four two-day tickets for $75).  Two-day tickets purchased after October 22, 2011, but before the day of the event will be $25/ticket.  Tickets will be available the day of the event for $35/ticket.  Free designated driver tickets are available for food sampling only.  Tickets can be purchased in the tasting rooms at any of the participating wineries or on line at www.iowawinetrail.com.  Phone orders can be placed through Park Farm Winery at 563-557-3727.

A new benefit for ticketholders during the November wine trail event will be a 10% discount on ALL wine purchases during the Saturday and Sunday event.  This event only discount will be in addition to any quantity discounts normally allowed at each winery.  Also, with each purchased ticket you will receive your very own Iowa Wine Trail etched wine glass.

Starting tomorrow - Thursday, September 8th and continuing through Sunday, September 11 - 10% off everything in the shop including Farm House Wines.  This is a great time to stock up, purchase gifts, taste wine and have fun!  Our shop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

BARN TOUR

Saturday, September 10th is the 2nd Annual Northeast Iowa Barn Tour sponsored by Heritage Farm Park in Clermont.  We are on the tour.  The bus will arrive about 3:15 and they will stay until 4:00.  Loren and Dianna will tell about the history of the farm and barns and then we expect they will want to taste some wine!

Farm Crawl

Visit participating farms and learn how the farmers run their businesses to produce your food (and wine!).  Engelbrecht Farm is a participant.  This self-guided tour is from 1-5 p.m. Sunday,  September 11.  Visit www.ceee.uni.edu for the map and more information.  You may find fun kids’ activities and food for sale to make your supper!  Don’t forget to grab some wine to go with your supper!  And remember - it will be 10% off!
