Bed and Breakfast Hero to Receive Award

If you’ve ever stayed with us at the Farm House, or even read about us on our website, you’ve heard of our welcoming committee: HJ. HJ is the family dog - and the first one to greet you at the door! He’s always been a special part of the family, house and farm, but now he’s getting recognition for something much more special. Saving someone’s life - literally.

Last year when Loren was having a heart attack in the middle of the night, and in too much pain to wake Dianna, it was HJ to the rescue. He woke Dianna and did everything he could to make her understand that something was wrong. If it weren’t for his loyalty (and persistence), Loren most likely wouldn’t be with us today.

It is because of this story that the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association will be honoring HJ in an awards ceremony in the spring of 2009 in the Hero category. Aside from being recognized as a hero, he will also be inducted into the 2008 Iowa Animal Hall of Fame!
