2012 Spring Iowa Wine Trail Event

Engelbrecht Family Winery

Follow the Iowa Wine Trail during the semi-annual special event April 28 - 29, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. The Iowa Wine Trail is within the Upper Mississippi River Valley Viticulture Area. Sample well-crafted wines and ciders in the comfort of excellent and diverse tasting rooms amoung our heritage farms and vineyards, hilltop chateau, nestled river village, and Italian bistro. You can spend one or both days visiting wineries to view operations, enjoy the grounds, sample regional foods and award winning wines and sparkling ciders. You may also purchase tickets at member wineries: Winneshiek Wildberry Winery - Decorah, Eagles Landing Winery and Vineyard - Marquette, Park Farm Winery - Bankston, Daly Creek Winery - Anamosa, Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery - Baldwin, Sutliff Cider Company - Lisbon, Wide River Winery - Clinton, Brick Arch Winery - West Branch, and, of course, our winery - Engelbrecht Family Winery - Fredericksburg.

The Engelbrechts will be cooking and serving all-day brunch made from locally produced food. The menu for the event is applewood smoked bone-in ham with fresh apples sauteed in our Farm House White and Asparagas/Bacon quiche made with local farm fresh eggs and locally grown fresh asparagas. Both the ham and bacon are from a local farm. There will be fresh fruit in our Farm House Rose’ as well as dessert made with fresh, local ingredients. Menu selections will be paired with our Farm House Wines. All our hand-crafted estate wines will be available for tasting. Wine Trail participants will get special discounts on wine purchases. Rooms are available at the Farm House Bed & Breakfast for guests wishing to spend the night on the trail.

The Department of Transportation has been working on State Hwy. 18 for some time. Up until now it hasn’t caused too much interruption in our business. However, we have been informed that we will be completely blocked in this Saturday and Sunday, October 29th and 30th. We have no choice but to close the Farm House Shop and Bed & Breakfast for those two days. Please help spread the word. If you know of anyone that may be planning a trip to the winery this weekend, let them know we are closed.

The Iowa Wine Trail –“Cuisine Around the World
with Iowa Wines”

November Special Weekend Event

The Iowa Wine Trail involves nine wineries that will each serve unique and creative cuisine from around the world foods paired with their excellent Iowa Wines of the Upper Mississippi River Valley Viticulture Area.

Brick Arch Wineryin West Branch will be featuring samples of Swiss beef, Gruyere potatoes, and a chocolate dessert

Daly Creek Wineryin Anamosa will be featuring Caribbean cuisine highlighted by Jamaican pulled pork;

Eagles Landing Wineryin Marquette will be featuring German cuisine

Engelbrecht Family Winerynear Fredericksburg will feature Danish cuisine.

Park Farm Winerynear Bankston will be using their new wood fire pizza oven for “Pizza of America” samples

Sutliff Cider Companynear Lisbon will feature Greek cuisine with samples of stuffed loin;

Tabor Home Vineyards and Winerynear Baldwin will have French cuisine;

Wide River Winery near Clinton will be presenting French cuisine

Winneshiek Wildberry Winerynear Decorah plans to feature Italian foods

Purchase three (3) tickets before October 22nd and receive a fourth ticket free (four two-day tickets for $75). Two-day tickets purchased after October 22, 2011, but before the day of the event will be $25/ticket. Tickets will be available the day of the event for $35/ticket. Free designated driver tickets are available for food sampling only. Tickets can be purchased in the tasting rooms at any of the participating wineries or on line at www.iowawinetrail.com. A new benefit for ticketholders during the November wine trail event will be a 10% discount on ALL wine purchases during the Saturday and Sunday event. This event only discount will be in addition to any quantity discounts normally allowed at each winery. BARN TOUR

Saturday, September 10th is the 2nd Annual Northeast Iowa Barn Tour sponsored by Heritage Farm Park in Clermont. We are on the tour. The bus will arrive about 3:15 and they will stay until 4:00. Loren and Dianna will tell about the history of the farm and barns and then we expect they will want to taste some wine!

Farm Crawl

Visit participating farms and learn how the farmers run their businesses to produce your food (and wine!). Engelbrecht Farm is a participant.
